The National Association of Homebuilders expects 2015 to be a big year for remodeling, and homeowners are already planning their big projects for spring. At Leitner Construction, we’ve seen certain trends come and go over the years. As technology and the array of materials available changes, we’re beginning to see interesting new ideas begin to take hold. We work hard to be a leader in home remodeling innovations in Portland Metropolitan area. In 2015, we expect to see these exciting and innovative elements on the forefront of our clients’ wish lists.
Portland Remodel Trends
Touchless Faucets. Public restrooms have been sporting these futuristic motion-sensor faucets for year, but why not private homes? Well, expect to see more of this in the coming year. Let our design pros know if you’re interested in incorporating these into your Portland remodel project.
Mobile Networking and USB Charging Stations. Your cell phone, tablet or laptop are now capable of interacting with entertainment technology in your home. Elements like lighting and heat can also be networked with mobile devices. The very simple installation of USB charging stations at convenient points in your home make it easy to charge your mobile devices. Expect to see more technology integration, including voice-activated electronics, becoming more commonplace in Portland remodel plans.
Layered lighting. Creative lighting is one of our strengths, and we know we’ll be incorporating more chandeliers, pendants, under-cabinet lighting and cabinet interior lighting into our Portland remodeling projects. Having the flexibility to create various “moods” with lighting is a desire we’re hearing from clients, and our designers know exactly what do when we get this request. See some examples in our remodeling galleries.
Instant Hot Water Dispensers. These are just more convenient, and when coupled with a filtration system, homeowners can get that perfect cup of tea in seconds.
Wall Accents. Natural wood accents and textures can be used to add a unique style to walls or exposed spaces on cabinets and kitchen islands. We love getting creative with these under-utilized spaces. A good example of a recent wood-accented kitchen is this Portland remodel project. Note the waterfall design on the kitchen island.
Decorative Hardware. We have been incorporating decorative and creative hardware elements into kitchens and bathrooms for years. In 2015 we expect the trend to continue. Artisan faucets, handles, tub and shower hardware and other pieces can turn a bathroom into a custom bathroom very easily and for a moderate increase in cost.
These design trends and many more will be on our mind as we tackle the challenges of the coming year.
